Indigenous Voices on the Web

My article Indigenous Voices on the Web: Folksonomies and Endangered Languages is now out. It is published in the latest issue of the Journal of American Folklore (Summer 2015, Vol 128, No 509). It is based on a study that I have presented in an open lecture earlier (broadcasted by UR, the Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company).  See below for the short English abstract, and click here for a summary on Swedish:

Examining categories created by Sámi users on Twitter, this article investigates the advantages and limits of global social media for a small localized group. Folksonomies illustrate the empowering potential of Twitter as a site of performance for continuity of cultural practices, vernacular expressions, and “artistic communication in small groups”.
